Facebook Site: Check out our new jivefusion group on Facebook to stay in touch with other members & friends . You can check out and add to lots of interesting stuff here. I shall be adding the moves listing (and possibly video?) for each sessions but the site is really up to you! Talk about your favourite music, a good freestyle, who’s hot on the dancefloor (be nice!), sharing a lift (I think Mandy has 3 seats available for a freestyle this sat..)? this jivefusion site is your site!

You need to log into Facebook to join, its a bit time consuming at first, but it'll be worth it! oh and btw- no throwing stuff at me, dont try to hug me or get me to race your imaginary car.. (Wendy!)!!! cos i cant do much more than read whats infront of me (I'm bloke!!) :P

From your feedback:

Q. "Please can we have more challenging moves?" A. Yes, I now do an advanced move in Lincoln on a wednesday night

Q. "Can you repeat the moves from the previous week?" A. Yes, but not a the same venue as this would take too long. (see reviewing moves below)

Q. "Can we have more Freestyle dance time?" A. Yes, I've shifted the basic moves earlier and I'm trying to reduce the class times too. Unfortunately we cannot extend the session time at this stage beyond 10.30pm. Help me to help you; It helps if everyone joins the classes promptly as this takes a lot of organising time if people drift in slowly.

Q. "Can you play X, Y & Z?" Yes, I do play requests regularly, most of the tracks you dance to are requested by someone. I also mix the music up for different tastes and dance styles. Let me know what your favourite tracks are.

Q. "Can we have more freestyles?" A. I'd love to have more freestyles too, they are mostly restricted by venue availablity...

Q. "Why cant I get a dance?" A. see Dance Ettiquette "Increasing your chances of being asked for a dance"

Lincoln: New Session Format
I’m trialling a new session format in Lincoln. The idea is to give more practice dance and freestyle dance time and an advance move to those wishing to stretch their dancing a little further.
7.45pm Doors open; Practice & Freestyle
7.55 Warm-up
8.00 Basic Moves Class (workshop reveiw class in reveiw room)
8.35 Practice & Freestyle
9.05 Intermediate Class (& Basic Moves in review room)
9.35 Practice & Freestyle
9.40 Advanced move in review room.
10.30 Close

Reviewing moves: Due to your feedback I will be reveiwing some of your favourite moves on the last Wednesday of each month in Lincoln. The moves we do in Lincoln on a wednesday are also repeated in the other venues the next week, so there is ample opportunity to refresh any moves or combinations.

Jivefusion 2-007: Runners-Up Leroc UK Championship!
Fantastic news from our Jivefusion team, reaching the 2nd place at the Leroc Championships in Weston-Super-Mare on Sat. July 22nd. Months of hard work (and a few laughs, admittedly..) brought us to within an inch of the top slot. We were just pipped by them pesky Nottingham Outlaws (see below) who put in a great performance and deservedly earned the first placed trophy. Well Done Team!!!

Also well done to all our competitors who took part in the “dance with a stranger” competition; Gillian (semi finalist) and Jenny (quarters) flew our jivefusion flag. A huge thank you to those of you that came to support us as well as thanks to all of you that have supported us every week with the “lottery”. We had lots of drama even before we got there due to flooding, check out our journey and photo’s here http://www.jivefusion.co.uk/galleries.htm

New Movers: are always welcome (they will be intermediates in no time..), so please remember you were one once (probably only a few months ago…) and help a new mover who might be looking a little bewildered. I’ve obviously focused the last couple of sessions towards New Movers, however I’ll be running our regular sessions with an intermediate class after the holiday ?. Thanks for your pateince

Let me know what you think about it because I’d like to roll this format out to other venues too.

Music: Great New Tracks
It’s a tough, no, impossible job finding something to suit every taste so thanks to everyone who’s offering their favourite tracks to go on the playlist, I’m sure you’ll have noticed some changes already, but please keep your ideas coming in.
Wanna know what it is I’m playing? Ask me, Mick or Jules; or check out the website for a list of your favourite tunes.

happy dancin’

Andy
